320 kbps for the best quality, 192 for a good balance, 128 for the smallest file. Be realistic about the ceiling, though: the source is already a compressed stream, so 320 preserves what's there rather than restoring anything the platform threw away. Pick WAV if the file is going into an edit or a DAW.
Keep it to personal use: your own uploads, licensed material, or a track you already own. Downloading someone else's music to redistribute or monetize is on you, not on the tool. Most platforms' terms also cover this, so treat it as a personal-archive tool.
A pasted link has to be fetched for you, so that step doesn't happen on your device. A local audio file you drop in is different: it's converted in your browser and never leaves your machine. Either way there's nothing to sign up for.
